About This Scholarship

The Pulliam Journalism Fellowship is a competitive, year-long fellowship program for recent college graduates and early-career journalists who are interested in pursuing a career in journalism. The program is sponsored by the Indianapolis Star, a daily newspaper in Indiana, and offers hands-on experience in various aspects of print and digital journalism.

The fellowship program offers two tracks: news reporting and editorial writing. Fellows work alongside experienced journalists and editors, and receive mentoring and training in reporting, writing, and digital journalism. Fellows also have the opportunity to contribute to the Indianapolis Star and other publications owned by the parent company, Gannett.

The fellowship provides a salary, health benefits, and a housing stipend. Fellows are also given the opportunity to participate in journalism conferences and other professional development opportunities.

The application process typically opens in the fall, and the deadline is usually in early January. For more information on the Pulliam Journalism Fellowship and how to apply, visit the Indianapolis Star’s website.
