About This Scholarship

According to the Glenview Art League’s goal, the Robert Sherman Fine Art Scholarship was created to encourage the study of art and improve the careers of artists. It is for a senior in high school who wants to major in visual arts in college. On the basis of their application, the calibre of their work, and letters of recommendation, students will be evaluated without bias or prejudice. The student will get a one-time $1,000 scholarship to use anyway they see fit towards the cost of attending college.

Eligibility Criteria For Robert Sherman Fine Art Scholarship

Here are some common eligibility criteria that are often considered for fine arts scholarships:

  • Artistic Talent and Portfolio: Fine arts scholarships typically prioritize applicants with exceptional artistic abilities and talent in their chosen artistic discipline, such as visual arts, performing arts, music, dance, theater, or film. Applicants are often required to submit a portfolio or audition to demonstrate their skills and proficiency in their artistic field.
  • Field of Study: Scholarships may be specific to certain fine arts disciplines or may be open to students pursuing any area within the fine arts. Some scholarships target specific fields, such as painting, sculpture, photography, music composition, dance performance, or acting.
  • Academic Standing: While the focus is primarily on artistic talent, some fine arts scholarships may consider the applicant’s academic achievements. This can include maintaining a certain grade point average (GPA) or meeting specific academic requirements.
  • Financial Need: Some fine arts scholarships consider applicants with demonstrated financial need. This requirement is often assessed through the completion of a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or other financial aid forms. Providing information about the applicant’s family income, assets, and expenses helps determine their financial need.
  • Letters of Recommendation: Applicants may need to submit letters of recommendation from art teachers, mentors, or professionals in the field who can speak to their artistic abilities, dedication, and potential for success in the fine arts. These letters provide additional insights into an applicant’s qualifications and achievements.
