About This Scholarship

The Sachs Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship is a scholarship program that provides financial assistance to high-achieving, low-income African American students in the Philadelphia area who are pursuing a college degree.  The scholarship award is renewable for up to four years and covers the full cost of tuition, fees, and room and board at any accredited four-year college or university in the United States. The scholarship also provides additional funding for books, supplies, and travel expenses.

The Sachs Foundation is committed to providing financial assistance and support to talented, low-income African American students who might not otherwise have the opportunity to attend college.

Eligibility Criteria For Sachs Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship

The Sachs Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship is designed to support high-achieving African American students who have demonstrated leadership potential and a commitment to community service. The eligibility criteria for this scholarship are as follows:

  • Applicants must be African American or black students for this scholarship.
  • Applicants must be graduating high school seniors or current undergraduate students.
  • Applicants must be planning to enroll or currently enrolled full-time in an accredited four-year college or university in the United States.
  • Applicants must demonstrate financial need, which may be determined based on income, family size, and other factors.
  • Applicants must submit an essay, personal statement, or other application materials outlining their leadership potential, community service experience, and career goals.
  • Applicants must provide letters of recommendation from teachers, counselors, or other community leaders who can speak to their academic achievements, leadership potential, and community service.

In addition to meeting the above eligibility criteria, applicants will be evaluated on their academic achievements, leadership potential, community involvement, and financial need. The Sachs Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship provides financial assistance of up to $20,000 per year to cover tuition, fees, books, and other educational expenses.

The scholarship recognizes the importance of providing financial assistance to support the educational and career aspirations of high-achieving students who may face financial barriers to pursuing their goals.
