Young individuals with hemoglobinopathies are encouraged to pursue further education through the SCTPN Undergraduate Scholarships, which are committed to academic success. Students admitted into a recognised two-year or four-year college or university are given the scholarship every other year. Recipients of scholarships may reapply each year for help.

All of the following requirements must be satisfied to be eligible for a scholarship: fill out the scholarship application in a clear and precise manner; produce a certificate of verification from your doctor attesting to your diagnosis of Thalassemia and sickle cell disease; a 500-word essay responding to the offered questions, a copy of the college acceptance letter, two letters of recommendation from faculty and one letter from a non-family member, and a willingness to take part in the annual Sickle Cell Walk

Eligibility Criteria For SCTPN Undergraduate Scholarship

Here are some common eligibility factors considered for undergraduate scholarships:

  • Academic achievement: Many undergraduate scholarships prioritize students with a strong academic record. This may include meeting a minimum GPA requirement or demonstrating exceptional performance in specific subjects or standardized tests.
  • Leadership and extracurricular activities: Scholarships often consider an applicant’s involvement in leadership roles, extracurricular activities, community service, or other notable achievements. This criterion highlights an applicant’s initiative, commitment, and potential for future success.
  • Letters of recommendation: Scholarships often require one or more letters of recommendation from teachers, counselors, or mentors who can provide insight into the applicant’s academic abilities, character, and potential.
  • Citizenship or residency: Some undergraduate scholarships may have restrictions based on citizenship or residency status. Some scholarships are open only to citizens or residents of a particular country or region, while others may be available to international students.
  • Community involvement: Some scholarships consider an applicant’s involvement in their local community, volunteer work, or engagement in social causes. This criterion recognizes the applicant’s commitment to making a positive impact beyond academics.

It’s important to carefully review the specific eligibility criteria provided by the scholarship program or organization you are interested in to ensure that you meet all the requirements before applying.
