The President’s Scholar Award is a highly competitive scholarship program offered by Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, Texas. Eligibility Criteria For SMU President’s Scholar Award

The SMU President’s Scholar Award is a scholarship program offered by Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, Texas. This scholarship is designed to support and recognize students who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and potential.

The eligibility criteria for the SMU President’s Scholar Award include:

  • Academic Achievement: Applicants must have a minimum high school GPA of 3.8 on a 4.0 scale or a minimum SAT score of 1470 or ACT score of 33.
  • Leadership Potential: Applicants must have demonstrated exceptional leadership potential through their involvement in extracurricular activities, community service, or other leadership roles.
  • Intellectual Curiosity: Applicants must have a demonstrated passion for learning and intellectual curiosity, as evidenced by their academic record and/or other academic achievements.
  • Admission to SMU: Applicants must have been admitted to SMU as a full-time student and plan to enroll in the fall semester.
  • Essay: Applicants must submit an essay outlining their academic achievements, their leadership experience, their intellectual interests, and their goals for the future.
  • Interview: Finalists for the scholarship will be invited to participate in an interview with the selection committee.

It’s worth noting that meeting the eligibility criteria does not guarantee selection for the scholarship.
