About This Scholarship

For graduating high school seniors, college and graduate students, re-entry students, and students attending vocational and technical schools, SVCF sponsors scholarship programmes. Every year, we give away nearly 700 scholarships worth more than $4.5 million. Since 2007, we have given away almost $27.2 million to students through scholarships created through SVCF by individuals, families, and organisations. Our scholarships will have a range of due dates.

The prize was created in Courtney McCoy’s honour, a Palo Alto High School student. Application requirements include being a current Palo Alto High School senior who plans to attend college, having worked as a teaching assistant or a classified student service assistant, and showing effort, a positive attitude, and good attendance.

Eligibility Criteria For SVCF Courtney McCoy Memorial Scholarship

Here are some common factors that are often considered for teaching assistant scholarships:

  • Field of Study: Teaching assistant scholarships are typically available for students pursuing a degree in education or a related field. The scholarship may be specific to a particular level of education (such as elementary, secondary, or special education) or a specific subject area.
  • Enrollment in a Teaching Program: Most teaching assistant scholarships require applicants to be enrolled in or planning to enroll in a teaching program at an accredited institution. This can include undergraduate programs, graduate programs, or alternative certification programs.
  • Academic Achievement: While not all teaching assistant scholarships focus solely on academic performance, some programs may have minimum GPA requirements or consider academic achievements as part of the eligibility criteria.
  • Career Goals and Aspirations: Scholarships may prioritize applicants who can articulate their career goals and aspirations in the field of education. Personal statements or essays that demonstrate a commitment to teaching, a passion for working with students, and a desire to make a positive impact in the classroom can strengthen the application.
  • Letters of Recommendation: Teaching assistant scholarships may require letters of recommendation from teachers, professors, or professionals in the field who can speak to the applicant’s potential as a future educator, their interpersonal skills, and their ability to work effectively with students.
