About This Scholarship

The Teen Changemakers Essay Contest is an annual essay competition that is open to teenagers in the United States who are passionate about making a positive impact in their communities. The contest is sponsored by DoSomething.org, a nonprofit organization that aims to empower young people to create social change.

The essay contest invites teenagers to submit an essay of up to 500 words that describes a problem in their community and outlines a creative solution that they have developed to address the issue. The essays are judged on their originality, creativity, and potential impact.

The top three essays receive scholarships of $10,000, $5,000, and $3,000, respectively, to be used towards the winner’s higher education expenses. The winners also receive mentorship and support from DoSomething.org to help them further develop and implement their solutions.
