About This Scholarship

The Tennessee Grocers Education Foundation (TGEF) Scholarship Program is a scholarship program aimed at supporting students pursuing higher education in Tennessee. The program is sponsored by the Tennessee Grocers & Convenience Store Association (TGCSA) and its member companies.

The TGEF Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to deserving students who are either employed by or have a parent or guardian employed by a TGCSA member company. The scholarship is open to high school seniors, college students, and graduate students who are pursuing their education at an accredited college, university, or vocational school.

Eligibility Criteria For Tennessee Grocers Education Foundation Scholarship Program

While specific eligibility criteria may vary, here are some general factors considered for the TELACU College Success Program:

  • Background: The program is typically open to students from low-income families who are the first in their immediate family to attend college. Eligible students are often from underrepresented communities and face economic disadvantages.
  • Financial Need: The TELACU College Success Program prioritizes students with demonstrated financial need. Applicants may be required to provide information about their family’s income, assets, and other financial circumstances.
  • Academic Performance: While academic requirements may vary, TELACU College Success Program applicants generally need to demonstrate academic potential and achievement.
  • Personal Statement/Essay: Applicants are often required to submit a personal statement or essay that highlights their educational goals, personal experiences, and how the TELACU College Success Program would assist them in achieving their aspirations.
  • Leadership and Community Involvement: The program may consider applicants’ leadership experience, extracurricular activities, and community involvement.
  • Recommendation Letters: Applicants may need to submit letters of recommendation from teachers, counselors, or community leaders who can speak to their character, academic abilities, and potential for success.
  • Interview: Some applicants may be required to participate in an interview as part of the selection process. This interview allows the program administrators to assess the applicant’s readiness, motivation, and commitment to their educational journey.
