Eligibility Criteria For Tennessee HOPE Scholarship

The Tennessee HOPE Scholarship is a program that provides financial assistance to Tennessee residents who are pursuing an undergraduate degree at an eligible Tennessee college or university.

To be eligible for the Tennessee HOPE Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a Tennessee resident for at least one year before applying for the scholarship.
  • Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  • Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a full-time student in an eligible Tennessee college or university.
  • Applicants must also meet one of the following criteria:
  • Achieve a minimum composite score of 21 on the ACT or a minimum SAT score of 1060 (math and reading sections only), or
  • Graduate from a Tennessee eligible high school with a minimum 3.0 GPA, or
  • Complete a home school program in Tennessee and achieve a minimum 3.0 GPA.

The Tennessee HOPE Scholarship covers a portion of tuition and mandatory fees and can be used for up to five years of undergraduate study. The scholarship award amount varies each year based on available funding and the number of eligible applicants.
