About This Scholarship

The Daniel Murphy Scholarship is a nonprofit organization that provides high school scholarships and support services to academically talented students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds in the Chicago area.The scholarship program is named after Daniel Murphy, a former Chicago Cubs baseball player who grew up in a working-class family on the North Side of Chicago. Eligibility Criteria For The Daniel Murphy Scholarship

The Daniel Murphy Scholarship is a scholarship program designed to support students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, and a commitment to their community. The eligibility criteria for this scholarship include:

  • Applicants must be current high school seniors who reside in the Chicago area.
  • Applicants must have taken the ACT or SAT and have achieved a minimum score of 20 on the ACT or 1020 on the SAT.

  • Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation, one from a teacher or counselor and one from a community leader.
