About This Scholarship

UNCF Chevron Corporate Scholars is a program that provides financial support to undergraduate students who are pursuing degrees in engineering, business, and other related fields. The program is funded by Chevron, a multinational energy corporation, and administered by the United Negro College Fund (UNCF), a nonprofit organization that supports historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and minority students.

The program provides scholarships of up to $5,000 per academic year to selected students who meet the eligibility criteria. To be eligible, students must be enrolled full-time in a four-year accredited college or university, have a minimum GPA of 3.0, major in a field related to Chevron’s business, and demonstrate financial need.

In addition to financial support, the program provides recipients with professional development opportunities such as networking events, mentorship, and internships at Chevron. The program aims to increase the representation of underrepresented minority groups in the fields of engineering and business and support their career development.

Eligibility Criteria For UNCF Chevron Corporate Scholars

The eligibility criteria for the UNCF Chevron Corporate Scholars program may vary slightly from year to year, but generally, the following requirements must be met:

  • Be African American or Black, a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident, and a current undergraduate student enrolled full-time at a UNCF member institution.
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and must have a declared major in a STEM-related field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math).
  • Be a rising sophomore, junior, or senior during the upcoming academic year.
  • Have completed at least one full academic year of coursework at the time of application.
  • Demonstrate financial need through the completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and should submit a completed online application, including a personal statement, academic transcript, and two letters of recommendation.

It is important to note that meeting these criteria does not guarantee selection as a UNCF Chevron Corporate Scholar, as the program is highly competitive.
