The University of Houston Academic Excellence Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship designed to recognize and reward incoming freshmen who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement. This scholarship is awarded to students who have earned a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, a minimum SAT score of 1310 (Evidence-Based Reading and Writing + Math), or a minimum ACT composite score of 28.
The Academic Excellence Scholarship is valued at up to $4,000 per year and is renewable for up to four years, provided that the student maintains certain academic requirements. To be considered for this scholarship, incoming freshmen must apply for admission to the University of Houston by the scholarship priority deadline of November 15 and submit a separate scholarship application by December 1.
In addition to the Academic Excellence Scholarship, the University of Houston also offers a range of other merit-based scholarships for incoming freshmen, transfer students, and current students. These scholarships may have different eligibility requirements, application deadlines, and award amounts, so students should research each scholarship carefully to determine which ones they may be eligible for and how to apply.
