About This Scholarship

The University of Maryland President’s Scholarship is a highly competitive merit-based scholarship awarded to exceptional incoming freshman students at the University of Maryland, College Park. The scholarship is designed to recognize outstanding academic achievements, leadership potential, and community involvement.

The President’s Scholarship covers the full cost of attendance, including tuition, room and board, books, and other expenses, for up to four years of undergraduate study at the University of Maryland.

The application process for the President’s Scholarship is highly competitive, and recipients are selected based on their academic achievements, leadership potential, community involvement, and other factors. Finalists for the scholarship are invited to participate in an on-campus interview before the scholarship recipients are selected.

Eligibility Criteria For University of Maryland President’s Scholarship

The President’s Scholarship at the University of Maryland is a highly selective, merit-based scholarship program that is awarded to incoming undergraduate students who have demonstrated exceptional academic achievement, leadership potential, and a commitment to community service. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years, provided that recipients continue to meet the eligibility criteria.

To be eligible for the President’s Scholarship-

  • Students must have applied for admission to the University of Maryland by the early action deadline of November 1st. 
  • And there is no separate scholarship application. Applicants are by default considered for the scholarship based on their admission application.

The scholarship is awarded based on a holistic review of each applicant’s academic record, including their high school GPA, rigor of coursework, and standardized test scores, as well as their leadership potential and involvement in extracurricular activities and community service.

To be competitive for the President’s Scholarship, applicants typically have a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.5 and a minimum SAT score of 1450 or ACT score of 33. However, successful candidates may have higher academic credentials and demonstrate exceptional leadership potential and a commitment to community service.
