Are you a student at Emory University who considers yourself a member of the LGBTQ community? You could qualify for a scholarship by winning the GALA Leadership Award. The Office of LGBT Life provides this award at Emory University to encourage the development of LGBTQ students’ potential as leaders. It is one of three funds established by wealthy Emory University alumni and friends of the Office of LGBT Life to assist this component of the office’s purpose. The GALA Leadership Award is intended to encourage and sustain student participation in various leadership activities. The scholarship’s purpose is to honor students who have demonstrated an interest in LGBTQ life and community at Emory, as well as the commitment and desire to further the development of the Emory campus environment by taking leadership positions within those communities. The award is divided into three categories: participation in LGBTQ-related activities, recruitment, and funding. Participation includes presentations at panels, volunteering with a service club, holding an office within a club or organization on campus, and creating new clubs or organizations focused on LGBTQ issues at Emory.
