The Charles W. Riley Firefighter and Ambulance and Rescue Squad Member Scholarship Program is a scholarship program that is offered by the State of New York. The program is designed to provide financial assistance to the children of firefighters, volunteer firefighters, ambulance workers, and volunteer ambulance workers in New York State who have died or become severely and permanently disabled in the line of duty.
In addition to meeting the above eligibility requirements, applicants must also submit a completed application form, a personal statement, and documentation of their parent’s or guardian’s service and/or disability. The personal statement should explain how the scholarship will help the applicant achieve their educational goals.
The application deadline for the Charles W. Riley Firefighter and Ambulance and Rescue Squad Member Scholarship Program is typically in the spring, and the scholarship recipients are announced in the summer. More information about the program, including specific eligibility requirements and application deadlines, can be found on the New York State Higher Education Services Corporation website.
