The Andrew J. Zabierek Memorial Scholarship for Massachusetts Veterans is a scholarship program established by the Massachusetts Military Heroes Fund. The scholarship is named in honor of Army Specialist Andrew J. Zabierek, who lost his life while serving in Iraq in 2007.
The scholarship is designed to provide financial assistance to Massachusetts veterans who are pursuing higher education. Applicants must be residents of Massachusetts and must have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, including the National Guard and Reserve. They must also be enrolled or accepted into an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited college, university, or vocational school.
The scholarship awards $5,000 per year, renewable for up to four years, to cover tuition, fees, books, and other educational expenses. Selection is based on academic merit, financial need, community involvement, and leadership potential.
