About This Scholarship

If you’re a Portland State University student practicing Judaism and wishing to pursue higher education in Israel, consider applying for the Lorry I. Lokey Endowed Fund for Israel scholarship. The scholarship is funded by Lorry I. Lokey, a successful entrepreneur from Portland who founded Business Wire. Every year, one Judaic Studies major are awarded between $1,000 and $5,000 to study abroad in Israel. Eligibility Criteria For Lorry I. Lokey Scholarship

  • Enrollment at Portland State University: Applicants must be full-time students at Portland State University.
  • Major in Judaic Studies: Applicants must major in Judaic Studies at Portland State University.
  • Interest in Studying Abroad in Israel: Applicants must have a strong interest in studying abroad in Israel.
  • Minimum GPA: Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Completed Application Form: Applicants must complete and submit the Lorry I. Lokey Scholarship application form.
  • Personal Statement: Applicants must write a personal statement outlining their interest in studying abroad in Israel and how the scholarship will help them achieve their educational and career goals.
  • Official Transcripts: Applicants must submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.
  • Letters of Recommendation: Applicants must provide two letters of recommendation from professors or academic advisors.
  • Financial Need Documentation: Applicants must provide documentation demonstrating financial need, such as a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) report or a copy of their Student Aid Report (SAR).
