About This Scholarship

The YIVO Institute for Jewish Research funds the YIVO Fellowship in East European Jewish Studies. The YIVO Institute for Jewish Research is an organization that seeks to preserve, study, share, and propagate knowledge of the history and heritage of East European Jewish people throughout the world. Several students pursuing Ph.D. or post-doctoral degrees in Eastern European Jewish studies are each awarded $30,000 as part of the organization’s yearly YIVO Fellowship in East European Jewish Studies program. This fellowship program is designed to aid students in completing their studies, and it is open to all students currently studying in the United States or Canada with a strong interest in Jewish history and Eastern European Jewish culture. Awards are made each year on a competitive basis. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university.
