Through the Trust of Mrs. Hazel Reed Baumeister, a longstanding resident of Burlingame, the Hazel Reed Baumeister Scholarship Programme was created in 2001. From 1933 to 1939, Mrs. Baumeister, a business school graduate, served as Nevada Senator Pat McCarran’s private executive secretary. The award, which was created in her honor, is intended to aid highly accomplished high school graduates who would be unable to continue their study without financial support. The selection committee considers academic promise, demonstrated persistence in extracurricular activities, the quality of the personal statement, and individual traits like honesty, sound judgement, and a desire to give back to the community.
