About This Scholarship

For Pennsylvania citizens enrolled in a Pennsylvania medical school as second- or third-year students, the Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society is proud to administer the Alliance Medical Education Scholarship. The Alliance Medical Education Scholarship (AMES) Fund was created by the Pennsylvania Medical Society Alliance in April 2000 to provide financial aid to Pennsylvania residents enrolling in a Pennsylvania medical school. The Alliance ceased to exist in June 2019, however this scholarship carries on their history and dedication to the education of medical students.

Eligibility Criteria For Alliance Medical Education Scholarship

In general, medical education scholarships may have the following eligibility criteria:

  • Field of Study: The scholarship is typically available to students pursuing a medical degree or a healthcare-related field of study, such as medicine, nursing, pharmacy, dentistry, or allied health professions.
  • Academic Performance: Scholarships often require applicants to have a strong academic record. This may involve maintaining a minimum GPA or meeting specific academic standards set by the scholarship provider or the educational institution.
  • Enrollment Status: Scholarships may have specific requirements regarding enrollment status. Some scholarships may be available only to full-time students, while others may also consider part-time students.
  • Institution or Program: Certain scholarships may be limited to students attending specific medical schools, universities, or accredited healthcare education programs. It is important to check if the scholarship has any restrictions on the institution or program you are enrolled in or planning to attend.
  • Essay or Personal Statement: Many scholarships require applicants to submit an essay or personal statement. This provides an opportunity to discuss your passion for medicine or healthcare, your career goals, and why you deserve the scholarship.
  • Letters of Recommendation: Scholarships often request letters of recommendation from professors, healthcare professionals, or individuals who can speak to your dedication, skills, and potential in the medical field.
  • Community Involvement or Extracurricular Activities: Some scholarships consider your involvement in healthcare-related volunteer work, leadership roles, research, or participation in medical organizations or events.
