About This Scholarship

The Baer Reintegration Scholarship is a program that provides financial assistance to individuals who are living with schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, or bipolar disorder and are pursuing a college education. The program is sponsored by the Sidney R. Baer Jr. Foundation, which aims to improve the quality of life for individuals living with mental illness.

The Baer Reintegration Scholarship provides up to $5,000 per academic year to eligible students who are pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree at an accredited institution in the United States.

The Baer Reintegration Scholarship is a highly competitive program, with a limited number of scholarships awarded each year. However, for eligible applicants, the program provides a valuable opportunity to receive financial assistance while pursuing a college education. Additionally, participation in the program helps to reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness and promotes the reintegration of individuals living with mental illness into society.

Eligibility Criteria For Baer Reintegration Scholarship

The Baer Reintegration Scholarship is awarded annually to individuals who have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, or schizoaffective disorder and are actively pursuing a college degree or vocational training. The eligibility criteria for this scholarship are as follows:

  • Be a U.S. citizen or legal resident and should have a diagnosis of bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, or schizoaffective disorder.
  • Be currently receiving medical treatment for the diagnosed condition, including medication and therapy.
  • Be actively pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree, or vocational training, at an accredited U.S. college or university and must demonstrate academic and personal goals, as well as a commitment to achieving those goals.
  • Submit an application form, transcripts, two letters of recommendation, and a personal essay.

The scholarship provides financial assistance to offset the cost of tuition, fees, books, and supplies. In addition, scholarship recipients receive mentoring and other supportive services to help them achieve their academic and personal goals.
