About This Scholarship

The Charles W. Riley Firefighter and Ambulance and Rescue Squad Member Scholarship Program is a scholarship program that is offered by the State of New York. The program is designed to provide financial assistance to the children of firefighters, volunteer firefighters, ambulance workers, and volunteer ambulance workers in New York State who have died or become severely and permanently disabled in the line of duty.

Eligibility Criteria For Charles W. Riley Firefighter and Ambulance and Rescue Squad Member Scholarship Program

To be eligible for the Charles W. Riley Firefighter and Ambulance and Rescue Squad Member Scholarship Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be the child of a firefighter, volunteer firefighter, ambulance worker, or volunteer ambulance worker who has died or become severely and permanently disabled in the line of duty in New York State.
  • Be a legal resident of New York State for at least one year prior to the start of the academic year for which they are applying.
  • Be enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited college, university, or trade school in the United States.
  • All the applicants must submit a completed application form, a personal statement, and documentation of their parent’s or guardian’s service and/or disability.
