About This Scholarship

If you have lived in Iowa and have been directly impacted by childhood cancer, either currently or in the past, you may want to consider applying for the Children’s Cancer Connection Empowering Scholarships. These scholarships are available to current and incoming college students who have had cancer themselves or had a sibling diagnosed with cancer before age 18 while living, being treated, or diagnosed in Iowa. The Children’s Cancer Connection, a non-profit organization supporting families affected by pediatric cancer in Iowa, funds the scholarship. The selected students may receive up to $1,000 annually to help with their college expenses.

Eligibility Criteria For Children’s Cancer Connection Empowering Scholarships

To be eligible for the Children’s Cancer Connection Empowering Scholarships, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Directly Impacted by Childhood Cancer: You must have had cancer yourself or had a sibling diagnosed with cancer before age 18 while living, being treated, or being diagnosed in Iowa.
  • Residency in Iowa: You must be a current or incoming college student living in Iowa or previously living in Iowa.
  • Academic Pursuit: You must enroll or plan to enroll in an accredited college, university, or vocational school in the United States.
  • Academic Performance: You must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  • Involvement with Children’s Cancer Connection: You or your sibling must have participated in a Children’s Cancer Connection program or event at some point.
  • Essay Submission: You must submit an essay of no more than 500 words explaining how childhood cancer has impacted your life and how the scholarship would help you achieve your academic goals.

More Scholarships
