About This Scholarship

The Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund is a non-profit organization that provides scholarships to students who are actively working towards social justice and progressive change. The scholarship fund was established in 1961 and has since awarded over $4 million in scholarships to more than 3000 students.

The scholarship awards range from $1,000 to $10,000, and can be used for tuition, books, room and board, and other educational expenses. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years, provided that the student maintains their commitment to social justice and progressive activism.

Eligibility Criteria For Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund

The Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund provides need-based scholarships to students who are actively involved in social justice work and who demonstrate a strong commitment to progressive values. The eligibility criteria for the Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund are as follows:

  • All the applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents and they must be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program in the United States.
  • All the applicants must demonstrate active involvement in social justice movements and have a strong commitment to progressive values and they must demonstrate financial need.
  • All the applicants must have academic ability and achievement, and must be making satisfactory progress toward their degree.
  • All the applicants must be enrolled full-time during the academic year in which they receive the scholarship to apply for this scholarship.
  • Applicants must not be receiving funding from other sources that cover the full cost of tuition and living expenses.

The Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund is specifically designed for students who are committed to social justice work, and the selection committee gives preference to applicants who have a history of activism and a clear plan for future social justice work. It’s also important to note that the Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund does not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender,, or disability.
