About This Scholarship

The program is designed to support and encourage Native American journalists to pursue advanced degrees and enter the field of journalism or media professions. The NAJA Graduate Scholarship Program offers financial assistance to qualified students who are members of a federally recognized Native American tribe or Alaska Native group. The scholarship covers tuition, fees, books, and supplies and provides a stipend for living expenses. Applicants must have completed their undergraduate degree and be enrolled or accepted in a graduate program in journalism or a related field, such as mass communication, public relations, or multimedia studies. They must also demonstrate a commitment to Native American communities and issues. The NAJA Graduate Scholarship Program is highly competitive, and applicants are evaluated based on their academic record, professional experience, writing skills, and potential for success in journalism or media. The scholarship recipients must maintain high academic standards and contribute to NAJA and their communities. The National Association of Junior Auxiliaries (NAJA) offers a scholarship program for students pursuing graduate-level studies for a year in fields related to the special needs of children and youth. These fields may include mental health, counseling, special education, speech pathology, exceptional children, gifted and talented, and remedial skills development.

  • The NAJA scholarship program was established to address these critical needs and support the education of students planning to work with children.
  • Since 1962, the Junior Auxiliary Project has provided resources, education, and support to make a difference in the lives of children. Every year, the scholarship program awards multiple scholarships of varying amounts to deserving students who demonstrate a commitment to helping children.
