Scholarships from the Nicholas and Helena Patti Foundation are given to people with Italian ancestry to help college students who are orphans or who were reared in foster homes with their music or education. Scholarship recipients who are studying music in college after their freshman year may be granted preference.
The Nicholas and Helena Patti Foundation Scholarship Fund, administered by the Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans (JCCIA), is pleased to provide scholarships to people of Italian ancestry for music or academic support for college students who are orphans or who were raised in foster homes. Scholarship recipients who are studying music in college after their freshman year may be granted preference.
Scholarships can, however, be given for other academic disciplines. Orphans who want to pursue their educational and professional objectives by enrolling in college may also receive preference for scholarship awards. For students, the scholarship is merit-based and considers both their scholastic prowess and their talent.
Music majors are given priority consideration, but all applicants are urged to apply. Strong academic credentials, musical ability (if put towards a music major), proven leadership ability, a dedication to serving their Italian-American community, and Illinois residency are all requirements for competitive students. Scholarship recipients are chosen based on their academic ability, talent, Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans (JCCIA) application quality, dedication to their studies, planned field of study, and/or other pertinent criteria.
