Eligibility Criteria For Scott Durand Memorial Scholarship

Here are some common eligibility factors that may be considered for young athlete scholarships:

  • Age: Young athlete scholarships are typically targeted toward individuals within a specific age range. The specific age range can vary depending on the scholarship program, but it is generally intended for athletes who are in their high school or early college years.
  • Athletic Achievements: Scholarships for young athletes often require applicants to have a record of athletic achievements. This can include participation and success in competitive sports at the regional, state, national, or international level. Applicants may need to provide documentation or proof of their accomplishments, such as medals, awards, rankings, or coach testimonials.
  • Sport Specific: Some scholarships may be specific to certain sports or athletic disciplines. They may prioritize athletes who excel in a particular sport, such as basketball, soccer, swimming, track and field, gymnastics, or tennis.
  • Academic Performance: Many athletic scholarships consider academic performance as an important factor. Applicants may need to meet a minimum GPA requirement or demonstrate academic progress and commitment. Transcripts, recommendation letters from teachers or coaches, and standardized test scores may be requested.
  • Leadership and Character: Scholarships may value applicants who demonstrate leadership qualities, sportsmanship, and strong character. This can include involvement in team captaincy, community service, or extracurricular activities.
  • Financial Need: Some scholarships consider financial need as a factor in their selection process. This may involve submitting financial documentation, such as tax returns or FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) forms.
  • Recommendations: Scholarships often require letters of recommendation from coaches, teachers, or mentors who can speak to the athlete’s abilities, work ethic, character, and potential.
