About This Scholarship

The Southern Scholarship Foundation (SSF) is a non-profit organization that provides affordable housing and scholarships to students who demonstrate academic merit, financial need, and good character. SSF was founded in 1955 and has since helped thousands of students attend college without incurring large amounts of debt.

SSF operates 27 scholarship houses in Florida and Georgia, where students from different universities share a common living space and expenses. The houses are located near participating universities and are managed by resident assistants, who are also scholarship recipients.

Once accepted, students receive a scholarship that covers their housing costs, including utilities, internet, and cleaning services. They are also required to participate in house activities and maintain academic and behavioral standards.

Eligibility Criteria For Southern Scholarship Foundation

The eligibility criteria for the SSF scholarship program include:

  • Leadership and Community Service: Students must demonstrate leadership potential and a commitment to community service. This includes involvement in extracurricular activities, volunteer work, and other experiences that demonstrate a desire to make a positive impact in their communities.
  • Character and Personal Qualities: Students must exhibit strong character and personal qualities such as integrity, responsibility, perseverance, and a positive attitude. They should also demonstrate a commitment to the values of the SSF scholarship program, including a dedication to academic excellence, leadership, and service.
  • Application Process: To be considered for the SSF scholarship program, students must complete an online application and submit supporting documentation, including academic transcripts, financial documentation, and letters of recommendation.
