About This Scholarship

For graduating high school seniors, college and graduate students, re-entry students, and students attending vocational and technical schools, SVCF sponsors scholarship programmes. Every year, they give away nearly 700 scholarships worth more than $4.5 million. Since 2007, they have given away almost $27.2 million to students through scholarships created through SVCF by individuals, families, and organisations. Their scholarships will have a range of due dates.

Family members created the Mary Jeanne Hanna Scholarship in memory of Mary Jeanne Hanna. A graduating senior from Burgettstown Area High School receives one $40,000 four-year scholarship each year from the committee, which is made up of family and community people. A current senior at Burgettstown Area High School in Pennsylvania who has exhibited extracurricular involvement, community service, and financial need is required to apply.

Eligibility Criteria For SVCF Hanna Family Foundation Scholarship

Here are some common factors that are often considered for scholarships designed to support financially needy individuals:

  • Financial Need: Scholarships for financially needy individuals typically require applicants to demonstrate significant financial need. This is often assessed through the submission of financial information, such as income statements, tax returns, or completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  • Income Threshold: Some scholarships may set specific income thresholds or consider the applicant’s household income to determine eligibility. This can vary depending on the scholarship program and may be adjusted based on factors like family size and geographic location.
  • Academic Performance: While not all scholarships for financially needy individuals focus solely on academic performance, some programs may have minimum GPA requirements or consider academic achievements as part of the eligibility criteria.
  • Community Involvement or Leadership: Scholarships may value applicants who have demonstrated involvement in their community, leadership skills, or participation in extracurricular activities. This can include volunteer work, clubs, organizations, or leadership roles in school or community settings.
  • Letters of Recommendation: Some scholarships may require letters of recommendation from teachers, mentors, or community leaders who can speak to the applicant’s character, accomplishments, and financial need.
