About This Scholarship

The Timothy S. and Palmer W. Bigelow, Jr. Scholarship is a scholarship program administered by the New England Fishery Management Council (NEFMC) in the United States. The scholarship provides financial assistance to undergraduate and graduate students who are pursuing a degree in marine biology, fisheries science, or a related field, and who are interested in pursuing a career in marine resource conservation and management.

The scholarship is designed to support students who are passionate about protecting and preserving the ocean’s resources and who are committed to promoting sustainable fisheries management practices. The scholarship is awarded annually to one or more students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, and a strong commitment to marine conservation.

Eligibility Criteria For Timothy S. and Palmer W. Bigelow, Jr. Scholarship

To be eligible for the Timothy S. and Palmer W. Bigelow, Jr. Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

 

  • The applicant must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in marine biology, fisheries science, or a related field at an accredited college or university.
  • The applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  • The applicant must demonstrate a strong commitment to marine conservation and sustainable fisheries management practices.
  • The applicant must submit a completed scholarship application, which includes an essay, transcripts, and letters of recommendation.
  • Field of Study: Applicants must be enrolled in a recognized undergraduate or graduate program related to golf course management, turfgrass management, agronomy, horticulture, environmental science, or a related field.
  • Educational Institution: Applicants must attend an accredited college or university in the United States.
  • Golf Industry Involvement: Applicants must have a demonstrated interest in and involvement with the golf industry. This can include working at a golf course, participating in golf-related organizations or events, or having relevant work experience in the golf industry.
  • Recommendation Letters: Typically, applicants are required to submit one or more letters of recommendation from individuals familiar with their academic and/or golf industry involvement.
