About This Scholarship

The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) is proud to offer a WomenIn Scholarship for college women pursuing or working as early professionals in game development. Awarding $2,500 to multiple recipients, this scholarship provides financial assistance to those interested in careers in art, animation, programming and engineering. With the goal of increasing female representation within the gaming industry, AIAS encourages college women to apply for this competitive scholarship opportunity. Successful applicants will receive support and guidance from mentors throughout their career journey while obtaining valuable experience and knowledge needed for success in the gaming industry.

 The scholarship’s mission is not only to support qualified applicants financially but also provide them with guidance from experienced mentors within AIAS. Applicants must demonstrate their commitment and passion for their chosen field as well as experience relevant work related activities such as internships or volunteering opportunities. Successful recipients may receive up to $5,000 towards tuition costs and will be connected with an experienced mentor throughout their studies.

Eligibility Criteria For WomenIn Scholarship

Students who meet the eligibility requirements listed below are eligible for this scholarship:

  • Open to any nonbinary/gender non-conforming or female student enrolled in a college, university or trade school.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have a minimum GPA of 3.0 for undergraduate students and 3.5 for graduate students.
  • Must demonstrate financial need through submission of FAFSA records or other verifiable evidence of need.
  • Must provide an original essay outlining your goals within the interactive entertainment industry and how this scholarship will help you achieve those goals (word limit 500).
  • Preference will be given to applicants who are actively involved in their community, either professionally or academically related to the game development field, as evidenced by resumes, letters of recommendation and/or awards received.
