About This Scholarship

The University of Washington (UW) Purple & Gold Scholarship is a scholarship program that recognizes exceptional academic achievement and leadership potential in incoming freshmen. The scholarship provides a financial award of up to $5,000 per year, renewable for up to four years, to help cover the cost of tuition, fees, and other educational expenses. Recipients of the Purple & Gold Scholarship are also provided with opportunities to engage with faculty and other high-achieving students at UW, participate in specialized academic and leadership programs, and receive mentorship and support throughout their academic career.

The application process for the Purple & Gold Scholarship is competitive, and only a limited number of students are chosen to receive this award. Recipients of the scholarship are expected to maintain a high level of academic performance and to participate in leadership and service activities while enrolled at UW.

Eligibility Criteria For University of Washington Purple & Gold Scholarship

The University of Washington (UW) Purple & Gold Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship awarded to incoming freshmen who have demonstrated exceptional academic achievement and potential. The eligibility criteria for the Purple & Gold Scholarship include:

 

  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
  • Applicants must be incoming freshmen who will enroll at UW in the autumn quarter immediately following high school graduation.
  • Applicants must have a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.7 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Applicants must have a minimum SAT score of 1370 (or ACT composite score of 30).
  • Applicants must demonstrate strong leadership potential and involvement in extracurricular activities.

In addition to the above criteria, the Purple & Gold Scholarship selection committee may also take into account factors such as financial need, diversity, and geographic location in the selection process.
