About This Scholarship

The Robertson Scholars Leadership Program is a scholarship program for high school students who are interested in pursuing undergraduate studies at either Duke University or the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The program aims to cultivate leaders who will have a positive impact on their communities and the world.

The Robertson Scholarship covers tuition, fees, room, board, and other expenses for up to four years of undergraduate study at either Duke or UNC Chapel Hill. In addition to financial support, the program offers a robust leadership development curriculum, mentoring and networking opportunities, and access to experiential learning programs both domestically and internationally.

Eligibility Criteria For Robertson Scholars Leadership Program – High School Students

The eligibility criteria for the Robertson Scholars Leadership Program for High School Students are as follows:

  • Citizenship: Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States, or students studying at a U.S. high school.
  • Academic Background: Applicants must be high school juniors at the time of application, and have a strong academic record, with a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale).
  • Leadership: Applicants must have demonstrated leadership potential through involvement in extracurricular activities, community service, and/or other leadership roles.
  • Service: Applicants must have a commitment to community service and a desire to make a positive impact in the world.
  • Interest in Duke and UNC-Chapel Hill: Applicants must have a strong interest in attending either Duke University or the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and be willing to attend both schools as part of the Robertson Scholars Leadership Program.
  • Essays: Applicants must submit two essays, one of which should be a personal essay describing their leadership potential and how they have demonstrated this potential in the past.
  • Interview: Applicants who are selected as finalists may be required to participate in an interview with the Robertson Scholars Leadership Program selection committee.
