About This Scholarship

The Zagunis Student Leadership Scholarship is a scholarship program established by the United States Fencing Association (USFA) in honor of Olympic fencer Mariel Zagunis. The scholarship recognizes and supports the leadership potential of young fencers who have demonstrated exceptional academic and athletic achievement, as well as a commitment to community service.

The scholarship provides a one-time award of $10,000 to help cover the costs of tuition, room and board, and other educational expenses. Recipients are selected based on their academic and athletic achievements, leadership potential, and commitment to community service. Applicants must be high school seniors who are members of the USFA and who plan to attend college in the United States.

In addition to the financial award, Zagunis Student Leadership Scholarship recipients receive recognition from the USFA and access to leadership development opportunities through the association. They are also encouraged to continue their involvement in fencing and to serve as role models for other young fencers.

The Zagunis Student Leadership Scholarship is a prestigious honor that recognizes the achievements and potential of young fencers who have demonstrated excellence in multiple areas of their lives. It provides valuable support for their educational and career goals, and helps to cultivate the next generation of leaders in the fencing community and beyond.
